News of her death greatly exaggerated

The end?  Don't get sucked down by the spin.

Read this about last night:
http://www.correntewire.com/what_happene d_tonight

Last night was a staged event, starring the usual CNN/MSNBO suspects and the DNC.  Just another Chicago-style media moment to get Hillary to quit before she wins West Virginia and Kentucky.  Or, more's the point, she we know she's NOT QUITTING, to damage her campaign, her fund-raising and and demoralize her supporters.  It's all a show, people, don't fall for it.
She just beat him in his state.  With all of his resources, outspending her, with Illinois and it's resources and influence right there, with polling place irregularities,  he lost his self-proclaimed tie-breaker.  Another big state he couldn't win.

Donate now, any small amount, to show your support. But for the outrageous calculated delay from Lake County, we'd have been donating after they called IN for her  -- BEFORE her speech --  and the evening wouldn't have felt like a car accident.

Hillary supporters: Let's all focus our energy on helping Hillary win. Let's not let their psy-ops game last night make a single dent in our resolve -- it hasn't in hers!
On to West Virginia!

when Clinton won her neighboring state (PA) she hailed it as an incredible victory, a huge upset, a momentum changer.

Now Obama was supposed to win IN b/c it borders his home state? Logic my friend, is lacking in your post.

Not to mention that Indiana was the SMALLER of the two states today.

HIS state is Illinois. Hillary led by as much as 9 in Indiana polls, she won by less than 2%. She pulled to within 4 in some NC polls, she lost by 14%.

  You need a better argument.

25% of the electorate in Indiana lives in Obama's hometown media market.

And 100% (none / 0)

live in Clinton's former media market. In fact, since she was first lady and constantly in the news for nearly 9 years, the entire US, nay the world, is in what could be considered her media market. So why did she lose Guam? I guess I just don't get the point you're trying to make.

Re: News of her death greatly exaggerated (none / 0)

Isn't his state technically Illinois...?  Or, by your measure is Clinton's state Illinois?

I've been to Chicago... nice town.  It's a shame it keeps being disparaged along with San Francisco... another nice town.

And the polling place irregularities are likely the result of the disastrous rule from the GOP requiring i.d.'s... which was implemented for the first time yesterday....

I used to be annoyed by Hillary supporters who refused to look at the reality of the situation.

Now I just feel sorry.

Re: News of her death greatly exaggerated (none / 0)

The reality of the situation, politically, is that she cannot win.  She understands this.  Her motives for pushing forward are two fold.

1) Leverage.  She has astronomical debt and will need Obama and his deep war chest to bail her out at some point - not only on the $11M in loans she has given the campaign, but the growing mountain of debt it takes to run a presidential campaign.  Her signaling that she will take this to the convention is nothing more than her opening negotiation.  Threatening a long and bloody fight in exchange for financial relief.  It is what it is.

2) Her continued political career.  She lost his campaign to due critical errors in judgment by her staff - tactically at least.  She does however want to continue in public service and this will require the resources and acquiescence of the DNC, in its current incarnation.  So she is looking at what kind of golden parachute are they offering...NY Gov? Senate majority leader?  SecState? etc etc etc.  This part of the game is about her getting out of debt and getting the best possible deal she can for her and her staff.  Her bargaining chips are her base - you guys.

This is the way modern political campaigns operate - 3 moves ahead of what you are arguing about.

Don't be condescending. (2.00 / 3)

And don't be "sorry" for them. They're not animals or inferiors living some delusion.

Senator Clinton has every right to stay in and play the game out as she feels is necessary; I won't condone negative politics by either candidate however but I hope to see a good strong finish for both.

But definitely don't speak down to Clinton supporters. You may think we've won the battle now but it's them that will decide whether we win or not.

Without them, we're just a successful Democratic nominee.

Excelleent point, LH.

I never chose a candidate after Edwards dropped out, but it is clear we need a united party to defeat McCain.  It will take people like you to confront the few Obama supporters who harm Barack Obama with personal attacks on other Democrats.

Well, the same could be said for the death of Lincoln. But he died nevertheless.

So it is with hillary. What the pundits say indeed doesn't matter. But the numbers do. Hillary's down by 3 touchdowns with one minute left -- and Obama has the ball.

And not only that -- voters just didn't buy the "new populist Hillary" nor her gas scam while Obama continued to improve in every demographic but old women. She has nowhere to go and nothing to build upon.

Finally, superdelegates are not going to miraculously jump on her bandwagon after its last wheel just fell off.

Is that necessary at the moment? (2.00 / 2)

50.1% to 49.9% in a well-fought contest isn't a tragedy; it's a great race.

Let's be a bit more classy.

I find it discusting that you ask people to keep donating to hillary. You cry about how hard hit blue collar workers are then turn around and ask them to give money to someone worth 100 MILLION DOLLARS. Have you no shame?

Re: News of her death greatly exaggerated (1.20 / 5)

Why insist on prolonging the agony?  Why?
She needs to put the party first before her own egomaniacal needs. This is why I don't sympathize with her at all.

A great leader at this stage in the race, would start urging their supporters to coalesce around the presumptive nominee. A great leader would urge their supporters to save their dollars and not waste it on a dying campaign.

Don't you see the selfishness of it all? And what's even more insidious - her supporters are poorer and probably don't have alot of extra cash to give. They might as well throw their hard earned money out of the car window while doing seventy. Its a shame.

Re: News of her death greatly exaggerated (2.00 / 1)

According to Obama supporters when low income people send him their hard earned $25 it's a sign of strong grassroots support. But when Clinton supporters contribute to her, it's a sign that she's an evil rich person trying to get poor people to finance her campaign.

Gotta love those double-standards!

Let's stop with the bashing of candidates. (2.00 / 0)

I'm going to hold members who support my candidate accountable and I hope Senator Clinton's supporters hold their's accountable when they say "Obamessiah" and "The One" and other inflammatory and inciting comments.

But one last thing - people have the right to give their money. It's always easy casting a vote from the outside looking in but walk a mile in a Clinton supporters shoes.

They donate. I do find the push to give from stimulus package checks disheartening and a bit shameful but that's their right. In the end, I think many of us would be doing the same.

Re: Let's stop with the bashing of candidates. (1.50 / 2)

I understand that it is their right. But some people may not be aware that she has no chance of winning and may donate with the misguided belief that there is an actual battle left. With gas prices and food prices skyrocketing, many have homes foreclosure, I think it is dishonest to ask that they keep giving money.

Re: News of her death greatly exaggerrated (1.00 / 6)

Why would you donate to a losing cause, might as well send your money to Iraq and donate to the Bathe Party, at least you've got a chance of revival. If Hillary's campaign were a horse, it would've been put to sleep.

As a matter of fact (1.20 / 5)

the only reason why I think she is staying in the race is to help McCain destroy Barack's campaign. Period.

Re: As a matter of fact (1.00 / 1)

And make Barack waste all of his money that she is pissed she never got a piece of.

This is her revenge against the "activists".

Think about it they ran positive ads meant to simply increase voter turnout in PA,

no, instead we let both candidates waste millions in attack ads on each other.

Re: As a matter of fact (2.00 / 1)

I suppose she could do that by simply endorsing McCain. Apparently her support or her constituents are no longer needed or welcomed in the party. They turned Joe Lieberman (a loyal democrat) into GOP Joe. Incidentally he won as an independent. They are now doing the same thing to Hillary Clinton and Bill Clinton.

This is just sad.  Hillary's situation is now much more dire than it was before PA.  Even the TV pundits agree that the nomination race is over.

I hope you people will return to reality sometime soon.  America is in big trouble and we're going to all have to work together if we're going to turn it around.

Re: News of her death greatly exaggerated (2.00 / 2)

I absolutely agree with this Diary. The media and its pundits are again playing the psychology game of "Get out now" which accounts for the fourth time they have done this since January. Well she told them where to go today, and I have to commend her for her relentlessness and tenacity. On to WV and a major victory.

swarming (1.50 / 2)

every diary today that has positive news for HRC, who has every right to stay in the race, is about obama people swarming with "its over" , "get over it", "my candidate won:, "you lost", and various calls for HRC to be in another position.

The swarming is pouncing on every diary, troll rating, hide rating, making jokes, gloating. It is just sick that this is how obamatrons get their jollies.  Getting kicks out of trashing HRC and her supporters.

Really, these people ought to return to the orange basement where they can gloat and trash HRC as much as they want.
