OK, politicians are ambitious, they want more and more power. Also, some of them actually believe in something. And this is the bottom line problem with Senator Obama.
He doesn't believe any of it. He gave his famous 2002 speech to an ultra-liberal anti-war crowd in an ultra-liberal district. How much did he really care? Not at all, as we can see by the absolute lack of evidence that he ever lifted a finger after that, or took any chances based on his convictions. That's why it's been hard to hang Ayers around his neck. He didn't believe that stuff, either. Just at that moment in his career, Ayers' crowd had some political juice and he wanted it. Same with Wright. He needed the large black church at that time, and he took his chances staying too long because at least it proved he wasn't a Muslim. And that's why we have no failures we can point to, like Hillary's 1992 Health Care. He's never stuck his neck out far enough for a cause -- because he doesn't care about anything enough to risk it.
Look at him: he's selling two contradictory products to two different markets. There's the hopey-changey-uniter post-partisan rock-star thing. That Obama praises Reagan, doesn't support true universal health care, takes waffley, mild stances on liberal issues, acts like royalty, doesn't speak up against months of horrible misogyny, in fact is fine playin' it.
Then there's the Wet Dream of the Progressive Elite guy. That Obama quietly acts like he's a stealth ultra-progressive and has all those Old Loser Boyz - Dean, Kennedy, Kerry, fawning and strong-arming in his name. They'll finally have their Party/party, fuck the rubes and angry shrews.
Surprise! He doesn't care about the left either. So, a couple of many, many examples:
NO TRUE PROGRESSIVE DEMOCRAT WOULD HAVE MAILED HARRY & LOUISE FLYERS OUT. PERIOD. THE END.
OK, so what's new? Well, the "sweetie" thing. Oh, it's such a teeny little thing you say, get a life. But I raise it not as a critique, but because it's a perfect tell. NO TRUE LIFE-LONG PROGRESSIVE MAN (NOT TO MENTION A DIGNIFIED PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE) WOULD DREAM OF CALLING A STRANGER, A WOMAN, A FACTORY WORKER, A REPORTER, "SWEETIE." AND THINK THAT ADMITTING "IT'S A BAD HABIT" WORKS AS AN APOLOGY.
It reveals him as someone who has not thought about these issues, does not care, hasn't long since unlearned the locker-room macaca language of his youth, or, worse yet, thinks it's perfectly fine, women should be flattered.
I don't count on him for a second to do anything but continue on this path. To believe in nothing but his own power.
So, no, I won't be voting for him. WHAT WOULD I BE VOTING FOR?
