I used to be annoyed by Hillary supporters who refused to look at the reality of the situation.
Now I just feel sorry.
Perhaps our realities are different. But thanks for your sincere sympathy.
The reality of the situation, politically, is that she cannot win. She understands this. Her motives for pushing forward are two fold.
1) Leverage. She has astronomical debt and will need Obama and his deep war chest to bail her out at some point - not only on the $11M in loans she has given the campaign, but the growing mountain of debt it takes to run a presidential campaign. Her signaling that she will take this to the convention is nothing more than her opening negotiation. Threatening a long and bloody fight in exchange for financial relief. It is what it is.
2) Her continued political career. She lost his campaign to due critical errors in judgment by her staff - tactically at least. She does however want to continue in public service and this will require the resources and acquiescence of the DNC, in its current incarnation. So she is looking at what kind of golden parachute are they offering...NY Gov? Senate majority leader? SecState? etc etc etc. This part of the game is about her getting out of debt and getting the best possible deal she can for her and her staff. Her bargaining chips are her base - you guys.
This is the way modern political campaigns operate - 3 moves ahead of what you are arguing about.
brilliant
gotta love the Clintons We have to something make her happy we need the Clintons to beat McCain I did hear before PA high ranking dems were throwing around the Idea of Gov of NY for HRC
And don't be "sorry" for them. They're not animals or inferiors living some delusion.
Senator Clinton has every right to stay in and play the game out as she feels is necessary; I won't condone negative politics by either candidate however but I hope to see a good strong finish for both.
But definitely don't speak down to Clinton supporters. You may think we've won the battle now but it's them that will decide whether we win or not.
Without them, we're just a successful Democratic nominee.
Excelleent point, LH.
I never chose a candidate after Edwards dropped out, but it is clear we need a united party to defeat McCain. It will take people like you to confront the few Obama supporters who harm Barack Obama with personal attacks on other Democrats.
